Doing well on the APs remain the de-facto way for students to demonstrate college-level academic ability. I highly recommend students to take a few APs, provided they play to their strengths and are relevant to their target major. Again, make sure you can do well in the AP that you choose - universities like to see an upward trend in GPA.
That said, here are a few reasons to consider AP tutoring:
- If the student-teacher fit is not right. Not all teachers are created equal.
- If the student finds the content genuinely hard. Students can find the coursework difficult to manage despite having a good teacher.
- If the student's grades are slipping below 85%. Concepts build on top of one another, and it can be very hard to catch up.
If your child finds the coursework hard, and if you think he'll benefit from the additional help, I recommend starting right away. It's easier to correct course early-on.
Allowing knowledge debt to compound is stressful, leaves a sour taste for the subject, and is ultimately unproductive.
Our 1-on-1 online AP Precalculus, Calculus and Physics tutoring costs $80 for the recommended 80-minute session ($60 per hour).
Yes. I expect my students to be able to commit to the following before working with me for maximum results.
Consistency beats intensity when it comes to learning. As a result, my students should allocate at least 30 minutes a day to complete targeted homework, and attend at least one full session per week.
My tutoring process is intense, but not unnecessarily difficult. At no point will my students be left to wonder what to do - Everything will be clearly outlined. All progress (time tracking, homework items, submissions, test scores) will be tracked on a live document to which both the parent and the student will have access to. As Peter Drucker says, (only) what gets measured, gets managed.
Almost all of our students get a 4 or a 5 on their APs! Complete the form below, and we'll be in touch within 24 hours.
